"The fear of the LORD is the beginning of
wisdom, and the knowledge of the
Holy One is understanding."
Proverbs 9:10
As we meet together and pray for Israel and the nations, particularly each of our nations, by those represented on the daily global call, we ask that the fear of God would fall on our nations and our leaders, as we repent for our sins, first, then corporately, so that God will hear our prayers, forgive our sins, and heal our land. In Psalm 51:17 the psalmist says: "The sacrifices of God are a contrite spirit; a contrite and a broken heart, O God, Thou will not despise." These words were spoken by King David as part of the larger prayer found in Psalm 51 after his sin with Bathsheba, as he humbled himself before God, knowing that he had sinned against a holy God. In 2 Chronicles 7:13-14, after Solomon had finished building the temple of the LORD and dedicating it, God appeared to Solomon a second time saying: "When I shut up heaven and there is no rain, or command the locusts to devour the land, or send pestilence among My people, if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land."
This is an often quoted portion of scripture whenever the nation calls for a fast of repentance in our churches and ministries today, yet I wonder how many people fully understand the power of this prayer when it comes from a heart surrendered to God, truly sorrowful for circumstances causing this great call to prayer and fasting to rid the nation from gross sin. Often scriptures of great importance and power are quoted in almost rote or routine fashion, as easy grace, not counting the cost of such agreement in prayer with our holy Father. We still have much to learn about approaching the throne of grace before a holy God. Because of the sacrifice of our dear Savior, Jesus Christ, in freely laying down His life for all men, those who have received this gift from God through belief in Jesus and are following Him through obedience to His commands, have access to the throne of grace and God Himself. In days before, only the High Priest was able to enter the Holy Place and be in the Presence of God, and only once a year to make atonement first for his sins, then for the sins of the nation. Because of Jesus, His sacrifice, we can boldly approach the throne of God without fear. But, we must come humbly, with a fear of the God of all creation, the Almighty God. This fear is reverent awe of His power and recognizing His holiness. It is only through the blood of Jesus Christ that we can have access.
There's so much going on in the world today that it is deafening, and trying to separate myself from the noise takes greater and greater focus each day now, because the enemy does not want us to focus on Israel, Iran, or America. With the advances in technology especially with regard to Artificial Intelligence, AI, and social media's addition of ChatGPT which is chatting with AI, I see greater and greater decline and greater chaos, and pastors seem to be okay with this "tool." Elon Musk who developed much of this technology, warned of the dangers of it, but no one seems to notice or care. We don't have far to look when we just consider the name, AI, as in "artificial?" Does it not spark a concern or lifted corner of the eyebrow at least? I imagine that I have become too tech savvy under the guise of ignorance, but I can see the harm the ChatGPT has already caused in convincing a young man to commit suicide. Of course it was supposed to warn and assist people who were vulnerable like that, but it basically okayed it. I know that caused his parents concern. I think there was a lawsuit, but I did not follow the case. It just proved my point about caution.
In this fast paced world that requires every thing to be done using technology there is little, if any, human interaction. I guess most interviews are accomplished via computer now as well. I understand that AI writes sermons, resumes, even theses for college doctorates. Isn't that cheating? I imagine if you can become certified to marry a couple just by filling out a few forms, that anything's possible, and your resume could be very impressive. Gone are the days when a person sits eye to eye with an applicant, so one can assess a person's attitude by asking questions and noting the response. But then, is the person truly a person? I hear that robots are in the world now. Something to think about.
This is why I stick to The Book, God's very clear Word.
“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom,
And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding."
Proverbs 9:10
"But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak,
they will give account of it in the day of judgment."
Matthew 12:36
