Today is a double blessing for all who love Jesus and who understand the prophetic significance of this day. While Israel celebrates Passover, Christians celebrate Palm Sunday, and I, along with many I know, enjoy them both! We have the best of what it means to be One New Man spoken of in Ephesians 2:15, Ephesians 4:24 and Colossians 3:10 by Paul. Jesus Christ through the work of the cross, created one new man reconciling both Jews and Gentiles into one body. What Jesus has already accomplished in the spiritual sense, we await the day it becomes true of all who believe in the birth, death, resurrection of our Lord, Jesus Christ, the Messiah. Exciting days ahead!
Yesterday, I posted a conversation on Facebook between Yael Eckstein, CEO of the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews, and Bishop Paul Lanier, Chairman of the Fellowship's Board. Paul is a Christian, and Yael is a Jew, raised in an Orthodox Jewish family. Her father, Rabbi Yechiel Eckstein, founded the Fellowship in 1983 as he wanted to bridge the gap between Jews and Gentiles. I believe he must have understood the prophecies spoken of in the Old Testament and the New regarding the one new man. It makes me wonder if things would have been different had he lived longer. I pray that as he left this world for eternity that Messiah met him along the way. Listening to the two speak, and realizing the openness of Yael to hearing Paul's testimony of Jesus, makes me think that Yael understands. I love my Jewish friends, and I am praying that as we celebrate Resurrection Sunday next weekend, that many will see and believe, and if not then, most certainly on Pentecost! May Holy Spirit's fire fall mightily on all flesh!
Tonight my day got even better. I received an email about a special event, and although I read it, I thought it was for next weekend. Thankfully I happened to stumble upon it on YouTube, a Worship Night at Thomas Road Baptist Church at Liberty University in Lynchburg. Michael W Smith was a guest, and there was a special message from Matt Redman. This is the same church where I attended a "Spectacular" during the Christmas season. It was rightly called a "Spectacular," as it indeed was that and more! I can hardly wait to travel back this year, as it is truly as professionally produced and orchestrated as any Broadway musical. That's the way it should be when the name of Jesus is exalted. Matt Redman's song, "Let Me See Jesus," was truly uplifting. The chorus goes like this:
"Isn't He wonderful,
Isn't He glorious,
Isn't He powerful,
Isn't He good to us?
Brighter than any sun,
Greater than any storm,
Faithful forevermore.
Let me see Jesus!"
How I love singing those words! Jesus is the Name above all names. The choir at the School of Music at Liberty University is so powerful, and the expressions on the faces of the young people as they praise and worship is a glorious sight to behold. How proud God must be of these young students dedicating their lives to service to the King. The musicians are so skilled, gifted by God. It reminds me of when Solomon was building the temple for the LORD. God had given special skills to two craftsmen, Bezalel, son of Uri of the tribe of Judah and Oholiab son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan, whose work was masterful. I'm sure the temple choir and musicians rocked back then, too. Remember how David danced with all his might when the Ark of the Covenant was returned after the Philistines had stolen it during battle? Well, let me just say there was a time when I danced in church, and if I had been able to attend tonight, you may have seen me kicking up my heels or at best twirling! I can't stand still when I am singing and worshiping Him, especially at home. He is my joy, my one desire.
So, this has been a busy day of church services in person and on line, followed by a Passover meal with my son. My personal time with Abba this morning set the tone of my day, as it always does, so I could share so much more. But, the day is almost done for me, and I need to spend some more quiet time before I say my goodnight. May the joy of the LORD fill your lives as your hearts and minds are stayed on Christ Jesus. Shalom.
