Day 201 Waiting to Hear

 Story pin image

7/20/2026

"The man who has no inner life

is a slave to his surroundings."

Once again God has veered me from the routine or imagined plans I had for my day. My daily walk through the Bible has slowed, because of the richness of the text. Isaiah is not a chapter one can easily skip through, as it calls for a deeper study. I think the buzz word is "deeper dive into scripture." I prefer to call it sitting at the feet of my Savior, listening to what He has to say to me for this day! Trust me, if you linger, He will meet you. He is always waiting for His children to sit awhile with Him. The scene of Him waiting reminds me of the image of a widow sitting silently by the window, a Bible and a telephone on the table beside her as she longingly looks out the window - hoping! Glancing, from time to time, sadly at the telephone, waiting for it to ring.

The people of Judah are offered heaven's response to their sin and suffering in chapters 9 - 12 of Isaiah as the words announce the promise of Messiah, destruction of their enemies and foes, the promise of an eternal reign of Jesse's offspring, and ending with a hymn of praise! Sadly, those who have yet accepted Jesus as the Promised One, avoid reading and teaching these scriptures in synagogue. How can this be? And yet, we who say we know our Savior, who read them religiously each week in churches across this globe, do not accept them in our hearts. Do not fully recognize the truth so wonderfully announced in the words on gilded pages of God's word to His children.

In previous chapters of Isaiah God was warning sinful, disobedient Judah of the fate that laid ahead of them for their willful reluctance to turn from their wicked, abominable sins and come back to Him. Isaiah warned of the Assyrian armies God would use to exact His wrath upon them, His promise to destroy them, have them taken to exile in a foreign land where they would live in bondage once again. Yet, within the passage God always promises a remnant, a handful of faithful ones He will spare to rebuild His kingdom, as He is faithful to the covenant given to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob - His chosen people Israel. And in the passages of today He promises the fulfillment of prophecy in the coming of the Messiah, the Savior of the world who will save His people from their sins and the stronghold of the enemy. And yet...!

The cry of my heart is that the people of Israel will wake up and recognize that their Messiah has already come, and He is coming again. As they attend synagogue daily that they will awaken to the whole counsel of God's word. And for the Christians and the Messianic Jews who already know the truth of Jesus, that they will respond with courage and love and boldness and lead the people caught in bondage to the light of God's Son. And for the Christians here in America and across this world to rise up and do the same. Boldly calling on the Name of the LORD so that all will receive Christ and be saved to the glory of our Father in Heaven.

Jesus is waiting!

Day 200 Nearer to Thee

 "Let my prayer be set forth before Thee as incense;

and the lifting of my hands as the evening sacrifice."

Psalm 141:2

Sunday morning, the birds are singing ever so sweetly this morning as the sun rises and the rays pierce the skies. Their melody brings songs to my heart. Often I listen to music as I sit here quietly enjoying the view from my window. Tim Janis is a YouTube artist who plays soft instrumental music while sharing nature's abundance from different areas of the world. But my favorite scenes come from the snow-kissed mountains of the Southwest where I spent almost half of my life. As the music plays Tim records the sounds of nature. As the birds sing along with his songs, the birds outside my window join in the chorus with their own sweet melodies, offering an early morning concert in praise to God. His masterpieces are always the best!

Music affects me greatly whether it be simply instrumental, supported by beautiful landscapes and God's creatures great and small, or whether it be the elaborate orchestras, medieval minstrels, or joyous praise! As I listen words form on my lips and worship fills my heart. I am in the presence of my Father. Symphonies of heaven! So, as I am praying or reading my Bible, the words become so much more alive to me. It's as if they dance on the pages rejoicing in the melodies, each line becoming praise. Sitting silently often brings new revelation or an answer to prayer.

As I sit quietly before the Lord this morning my silent prayer continues with Psalm 141:3-4, "Set a guard, O LORD, over my mouth; keep watch over the door of my lips. Do not incline my heart to any evil thing." My prayer is always to be set apart to do my Master's will, drawing ever closely to Him.

As if by clockwork the melody of a favorite hymn sweetly plays, and my mind goes back to a time in history when I last heard these chords playing in the background amidst panic and pain, the voices mixed with screams of terror and cries for mercy, children clinging to their parents, stewards not knowing how to help. I am of course referring to the sinking of the Titanic, and the music playing "Nearer My God to Thee." I recently watched the remake of this great classic first seen as a child, embellished quite a bit in modern days, but still my memory was fresh and the ending certain. God has a way of transporting our souls when He wishes to teach us compassion.

God can use movie soundtracks to evoke memories of the past whether the music is tragic or magical. It has always had that affect upon me, perhaps because I lean towards the artistic and creative. It's part of who I am, but it helps me relate to situations and to people and the difference attitudes - the places in their hearts. Survival instincts somewhat, I imagine.

The Psalm mentioned above requests a guard on my lips and watch care of my heart keeping me from evil thoughts or deeds. The enemy is so deceitful and clever in his ways. He has the innate character of distorting beauty and making evil look inviting. Music can also be used in that manner, so we guard our hearts again the devil's counterfeits. The Lord deserves the highest praise - always the first thing - the only thing! We must always keep our hearts and minds stayed on Christ Jesus. The words of the song the violinists were artfully playing offered hope for the 2, 224 passengers that day, hope of an eternal destiny.

"Nearer, my God, to thee, nearer to thee! E'en though it be a cross that raiseth me, still all my song shall be, nearer, my God, to thee; nearer, my God, to thee, nearer to thee!

Though like the wanderer, the sun gone down, darkness be over me, my rest a stone; yet in my dreams I'd be nearer, my God, to thee; nearer, my God, to thee, nearer to thee!

There let the way appear, steps unto heaven; all that thou sendest me, in mercy given; angels to beckon me
nearer, my God, to thee; nearer, my God, to thee, nearer to thee!

Then, with my waking thoughts bright with thy praise, out of my stony griefs Bethel I'll raise; so by my woes to be nearer, my God, to thee; nearer, my God, to thee, nearer to thee!

Or if, on joyful wing cleaving the sky, sun, moon, and stars forgot, upward I fly, still all my song shall be,
nearer, my God, to thee; nearer, my God, to thee, nearer to thee!"

The words unsung as the music softly played as many were welcomed home into the arms of their waiting Savior!

Day 199 The Tale of Chicken Little

This may contain: a family sitting at a table eating food and drinking water with the words family written on it

7/18/2026

"Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD,

the fruit of the womb is a reward."

Psalm 127:3

I strolled into the living room, my bowl of popcorn, in my hands, ready to see what movie was playing. My son leaves on the television many times, and since the last movie he was watching was the third installment of Star Trek - the Search for Spock - I figured the fourth movie would already be playing. But I was wrong. The movie playing was a futuristic space movie, so I thought...I'll give it a try.

The movie was already half way in the middle, and although it was difficult to follow, I seemed to follow the plot rather well for a person coming in at the middle of a chaotic space movie. Moonfall is an adequate name for the movie based on the synopsis which reads: "The world stands on the brink of annihilation when a mysterious force knocks the moon from its orbit and sends it hurtling toward a collision course with Earth. With only weeks before impact, NASA executive Jacinda "Jo" Fowler teams up with a man from her past and a conspiracy theorist for an impossible mission into space to save humanity." I must say that I couldn't think of a better way to snack on popcorn and consider my blog for today about restoring the family altar.

The movie is depicting a world gone mad causing a cataclysmic disaster in space ruled by AI generated hosts - one yielding innovative influences while the other is trying to destroy all human life. In their cosmic battle of good versus evil, the moon is knocked out of place causing devastating effects on earth and influencing the weather dramatically. In short the battle in the skies is wreaking havoc on earth, threatening life on earth. Meanwhile, the earthly focus in on saving the world so children, on earth, will have a safe place to live. Ironically, the focus in this movie and our focus on this present age is always the same - the next generation. A military superior intent on blowing up the moon, or what the character in the movie  perceives to be our moon, in order to stop this alien force from destroying earth, hysterically shouts to his commander in charge, "The fate of the world is in the hands of your wife and a has been astronaut?!" He failed to include the conspiracy theorist in his analysis, but the sensationalism of the moment was achieved nonetheless.

Ironically, when disaster movies are planned, the characters are trying to save humanity so their children can live in a better world. Right now the future of our children, specifically those identified as Gen X, are the focus of evangelism, as many consider them "lost" in their thinking. But this is not the case for many, as they are waking up, realizing that their hope is found on Christ alone. The males particularly are crowding churches, buying Bibles, searching for authenticity, no longer listening to the hype they've been fed previously. Many come from homes where there is no father, raised by their mother who is balancing home, family, and working one or two jobs to keep food on the table. Since COVID most people still consider Zoom their meeting place on Sunday, so normal local services and community outreach is primarily accomplished on a laptop once a week. But these kids are streaming into churches who are holding live services. While some churches are praying for revival, revival has already begun in some churches in isolated locations, and this is a result of the Gen Z desiring a change in their lives and best of all -  truth.

As we gathered to pray this morning, our focus was on the family altar, as this is God's desire that it be reestablished in the home. The first covenant relationship God made was with the family when He created Adam and Eve and told them to be fruitful and multiply. Of course we know how that turned out, so God chose Abraham to become the father of the nationsand so our journey began. And yet, the family unit has been destroyed by divorce, single parent homes with little or no godly influence. The churches are failing miserably in not identifying the problem, and by not reaching out to their communities, regardless of whether they attend their church or not.

We just celebrated our country's 250th anniversary, a nation established on godly principles by our forefathers who knew that a nation could not survive unless it was guided by moral principles. In many churches these moral truths based on God's word are not being taught. Yes, the basics are being told, but there is not conversation going on about what is happening in our lives today. Churches spout the words "separation of church and State" when they do not understand what our forefathers meant when they formed the rules for our nation. I have repeated it so many times that I am not going to do it now. The first thing we need to know is exactly what has been written in our Constitution and Declaration of Independence and many other documents we call laws that rule our land before we can debate on whether it says this or that. As Christians, we also need to get intimately related to the words written on the pages of Scripture - our Bible - which is the Book that should govern our lives, as it is God's inspired word, written by Holy Spirit through the pens of our Jewish neighbors. And mostly we need to pray, fast, and repent for our reluctance to throw God aside and lean to the understanding of men. The opinions of men, including women who are creating much harm and chaos in our nation today, and yet, they remain in office. It is very disconcerting to me, and I do not understand it, how an elected official who publicly announces their disdain for their country is allowed to remain in office.

This movie reminds me of the children's fable about Chicken Little who got hit in the head by an acorn, and it thought that the sky was falling. The sky is falling, the weather is changing, and there is war in the heavens fighting a spiritual battle for the souls of our nation and world. It's time we wake up and decide who we will follow, as we have two choices - God or mammon. Good or Evil.

Day 198 Still Willing

7/17/2026

"Then I heard the Lord asking, 'Whom shall I send as a messenger to my people?

Who will go?' And I said, 'Lord, I'll go! Send me.'"

Isaiah 6:8

Today's another early day, as I have two appointments on top of my daily commitments, so I'll manage to get everything done, and I'll be prepared for my 7 pm Harvest group. Why do meetings and appointments always fall on Thursdays?!

My son's early morning appointment went well, so I was able to attend my daily prayer call, and get over to my class luncheon at our local country restaurant. I had my mouth set for a stuffed baked potato, loaded with steak and cheese and pico de gallo - delicioso! It doesn't take much to make me content. We had more friends than expected, so we had to add another table. We've gotten together several times over the almost five years I've been back home, and I still do not recognize some of my old classmates. Perhaps if we got together more often it might be easier. Adding wives and husbands make it a bit harder, but it's nice meeting new people and seeing the old friends. I believe that our graduating class of 1968 was 124  graduates, but it's been such a long time ago, and sadly many have preceded us in death. This is one reason we make it a point to meet often. It makes me wonder how many other classes meet frequently. I hope we're not the only ones, because time passes so quickly, and relationships are important.

I generally don't talk a lot at the get togethers. I prefer to eat slowly while listening intently to conversations around me. Because we were a county school, most students came from farming communities, and I was surprised to learn that many returned to their family homes to help their parents work the land or otherwise. I'm living in my childhood home again, and I am trying my best to restore it to how my parents had it, how I remember it, plus add a touch of myself to the mix. Still, with every stroke of the brush or hammer of a nail, I remember scenes - memories, photos in my mind. The crepe myrtles are blooming so beautifully right now, and although I have no childhood memories of these trees, I do remember the maple tree in the back yard - now much, much taller and fuller, and I envision the azalea bushes and rose bushes that graced the front and sides of our home. My mama loved flowers, and she could make anything grow. My daddy was that way with vegetables and grass. This ole homestead used to be a place of beauty, but age and lack of attention does take its toll. Still, I pray for the strength to make it beautiful once more, and a place where friends feels welcome and stop by unannounced just as the old days and older ways when we always made time for family and friends. I remember mama saying "Come on over, and we'll add another potato to the pot!" and she meant it. My family was always so hospitable.

I regret that as a teenager more people didn't realize my hopes and dreams for my life. We had guidance counselors, but I don't recall ever stepping foot into their offices or being invited in to discuss my future plans upon graduation. Most of my female classmates were teachers or secretaries. But I was different much to the chagrin of my parents. I wanted to save the world, or at least help. I read every book I could find about the lives of missionaries, especially medical missions. As we were sitting at the table waiting for our food, talking about different subjects, one friend asked me about my life, and I began to share with her quite candidly. I always give God the credit, because there is no way my life could have blossomed from such crazy, misguided early beginnings. I went one way, and somehow in the process, over the years, God pulled me back around and set my feet on a wild adventure doing what I always wanted to do - helping others. Not that I hadn't been helping others, as that has always been my nature, but I wanted to do more, and God allowed me to do so.

Another friend answered questions about writing my story, and I shared a bit about my calling as a younger person. I'm not certain how my conversation was received, but when I'm allowed to share about my life, the joy and excitement of God's mercy and grace explode from me. Perhaps it's overwhelming, because it is to me, but I can't seem to contain it. The one thing we have in common though, is that we have all sinned and fallen short of His glory, but through the power of Almighty God and praying parents we have been transformed. In many ways I hear the same response I made so many, many years ago, "Here I am, Lord, send me!" Just like Isaiah responded. Just as so many missionaries have done and continue to do, giving their lives to answer God's call to reach the nations with the Good News of Jesus Christ. What a privilege, what a joy! Maybe my friends didn't go into missions, but a teacher is a very high call, and it takes a special person these days to reach the youth. Hopefully, my generation of teachers were able to train the ones in schools now, because the educational system is under attack. We need a new generation of teachers who will stand up and say to the Lord, "Here I am, Lord, send me!"

His hand is always extended, waiting, and He stands at the door and knocks. Oh, please, Lord, may we help to reach the lost for Your kingdom, for Your glory. We are still willing

Day 197 Fragrance of Suffering

7/16/2026

"In times of affliction we commonly meet the

sweetest experiences of the love of God."

Daily Walk

Mark Twain once wrote "Forgiveness is the fragrance that the violet sheds on the heel that has crushed it." Over the past several months I have been keeping a close check on the motives of my heart. Last Sunday our pastor spoke about anger and the importance of not allowing the sun to go down on our wrath, as the Apostle Paul warned in Ephesians 4. This week I began the study of the book of Isaiah the prophet called to speak God's judgment against Judah. The Commentator of this portion of Scripture states that although Isaiah was aware that his countrymen were receiving the judgment for their sins that they deserved, his heart was broken. But, from that brokenness arose a man with great strength who was ready and able to do what God gave him to do. The Commentator then asks: "The sweet fragrance of perfume is only possible after a 'crushing' experience. And that's what God is doing today: bringing a sweet fragrance out of your life. But first must come the crushing - the conforming - the committing of your life to Him. Are you willing, like Isaiah, to be bruised that you might be used?"

My life has taught me one very important lesson, and it is found in one verse of Scripture that is repeated time and time again, often without thought or consideration, one of the "go to cliches" we Christians use frequently. Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Paul wrote this letter to the believers at Philippi from a prison cell thanking the them for their kindness to him, and to encourage them in their faith. It is known as a "happy letter." Paul does in deed write words that have encouraged me, and ones I have shared with many others as Scripture to commit to heart, especially those found in verses 4 - 8:

"Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy - meditate on these things."

In spite of his suffering, Paul encourages us to think on "good" things. He reminds me of Pollyanna playing The Glad Game! It worked, and it transformed a sleepy ole town held hostage by one bitter old spinster, Pollyanna's aunt, who was also changed. Think about something you're glad about.

Just before he gives the message of doing all things through Christ, he shares his reason for being able to trust in the strength of God. In the verse preceding, Philippians 4:12, Paul shares: "I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need." Many times in Scripture Paul shares about the suffering he endures physically, but through it all he found true peace and a reason to go forth to complete the work God had given him to do, completing his race.

The prophet Isaiah spent sixty years speaking on behalf of God through visions during the reigns of King Uzziah, King Jotham, King Ahaz, and King Hezekiah. He lost his life during the reign of King Manesseh, King Hezekiah's son, when he was sawn in two for his prophetic witness. Many prophets of the LORD were martyred for speaking the words of the LORD early in Israel's history. Today the persecution of the church continues as antisemitism rises, and also as persecution of Christians who support Israel increases. Christians who stand against the hypocrisy of the government and organizations that encourage lawlessness and actions contrary to the Word of the LORD are becoming targets as well. The First Amendment is constantly in jeopardy, and the church remains silent against these wrongs. As in Isaiah's time God is calling our nation to repentance and leaders to speak out and make a stand.

When we make the decision to live for Christ and to do what He told us to do before He ascended to Heaven, we will make enemies. Before being able to complete the work God has given us to do, however, we must truly die to self, surrendering our desires to those of Christ. When we obey God's words concerning Israel, we face many enemies. As I have said many times before, there is a high cost to discipleship, and there are many saints, martyred for their faith, who can identify with that high cost. I remember the words of missionary Jim Elliot, who died at the age of 28 attempting to evangelize the Auca Indians, the Huaorani people of Ecuador, "He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain that which he cannot lose." He and his friends who died with him knew the cost they may have to pay.

But like Paul, and like Isaiah, there is a fragrance that rises to heaven when we pray for others, stand for truth, encourage a brother who is suffering, by serving, by giving, and by loving others to Christ. We're on a mission. The price is high, but the reward is sweet and satisfying.

Day 196 Search My Heart

This may contain: an older woman with a quote from elizabeth elliot on her face and the words sometimes life is so hard you can only do the next thing

7/15/2026

"O LORD, You have searched me

and known me."

Psalm 139:1

David, the psalmist and King of Israel, knew the heart of God, and God knew David's heart. That is the relationship I hunger for with my Father. The title of Psalm 139 is "God's Perfect Knowledge of Man." The psalm continues:

"You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thought afar off. You comprehend my path and my lying down, and are acquainted with all my ways. For there is not a word on my tongue, but behold, O LORD, You know it altogether. You have hedged me behind and before, and laid Your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain it." (verses 2-6)

In Psalm 17:3 David writes:

"You have tested my heart; You have visited me in the night; You have tried me and have found nothing; I have purposed that my mouth shall not transgress."

This week in our Bible study we've been considering the subject "The Clock is Ticking," based on Scripture found in Ephesians 4. This epistle written by Apostle Paul to the church at Ephesus is one of my favorite studies relating to the life of a follower of Christ and the proper spiritual attitude of the church. Pastor Clark was looking at the connection between time and anger, centering around the main scripture within this portion of Chapter 4 in verse 26 when the apostle warns: "'Be angry, and do not sin.' Do not let the sun go down on your wrath...." Ephesians 4 examines five areas of the Christian life: 1. Walking in Unity, 2. Spiritual Gifts, 3. The New Man, 4. Do not grieve the Spirit, and 5. Walking in Love. Of course when we consider these areas of a godly life, we need to daily examine our lives to ensure we are lining up with God's Word and His will and purpose for our lives. I found it ironic that after going through this teaching that the enemy would attack me from all angles, and yet, realizing that, as I said in my previous post, that God allows the pressing and the squeezing for a purpose. In some ways I felt that I failed the test, but on second glance I see that I passed so much more.

For now, however, I want to continue to think about what David is saying in this wonderful psalm about God's presence in our lives which makes my previous thought more plausible, more relevant, and more reassuring of God's love for me, for all of us who serve Him.

David continues:

"Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend into heaven, You are there; if I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there Your hand shall lead me, and Your right hand shall hold me. If I say 'Surely the darkness shall fall on me,' even the night shall be light about me; indeed, the darkness shall not hide from You, but the night shines as the day; the darkness and the light are both alike to You." (verses 7-12)

What he's saying is that regardless of where he is or whatever the circumstances, God is always near. He doesn't abandon us in our need, and indeed He cares about everything that concerns us. And if we can't understand the truth of those words, listen to the next section that literally blows me away!

"For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother's womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well. My frame was not hidden from You, when I was made in secret, and skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, the days fashioned for me, when as yet there were none of them." (verses 13-16)

"How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand; when I awake, I am still with you."  (verses 17-18)

I absolutely love sharing this Scripture with people who think God doesn't love them, because the words prove God's hand upon each life. The Scripture make it so obvious that God knew us before He even made us, or knit us together in our mother's wombconsidering every part and parcel of our being, our personalities and our physical appearance, His masterpiece by design. And verse 16 implies that we each have a book with our names written on it, listing every detail of our life, the life He ordained for each of us to live. God the Father who says in Jeremiah 29:11, "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope." Imagine God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit all having a confab about what each of us would be like - start to finish! He knew every little thing about us, down to the minutest detail. He knew who would love and serve Him, too. Knowing every detail of our lives, giving us free will to make our own decisions, He still chose us! Actually, the Scriptures were written by Israel, in this psalm by David, for Israel, but as His remnant believers, we have been grafted into the vine and are partakers of the inheritance.

In verses 19-22 David speaks of God's protection against our enemies and against those who are His enemies, who profane His name. Then he ends with verses 23-24:

"Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me and know my anxieties; and see if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting."

These words I have hidden in my heart, and daily I lift them as a prayer for my own life, as I want to live holy before Him. Growing in His grace and become more like Jesus in every way. This is the life we strive to have, obedience to our Father and LORD. In this desperate world we now live in, we must show others, particularly the vulnerable youth the Jesus is the answer for their every need. He meets them where they are at, accepts them for who they are, and molds them into faithful followers. In a world where everyone wants to do what they want, when they want, and how they want, it is refreshing to see the hungry and thirst for righteousness that we see in the generation of today. They don't need programs, they need transparency and honesty. They are searching for authenticity that they obviously have not found in any other source. Jesus is the only way, and they are hungry for light. May we shine in the darkness. May our motives be pure.

Day 195 Let the Arrows Fly

This may contain: jesus carrying a woman in his arms with the words when i couldn't carry the weight anymore, he carried me

7/14/2026

"Though I walk  in the midst of trouble, You will revive me;

You will stretch out Your hand against the wrath of my

enemies, and Your right hand will save me.

The LORD will perfect that which concerns me;

Your mercy, O LORD, endures forever; do not forsake

the works of Your hands."

Psalm 138:7-8

Yesterday my day was confusing and upsetting. The disturbing details of the day have not fully been resolved, and I don't know whether they ever will be - that is, in my lifetime. And since it involves my actual life and well-being, naturally I would be concerned and even upset, but I was actually angry. And I am not an angry person. Although I realized the true source of the difficulties, fully recognized it as a spiritual battle, I still found it impossible to surrender the situation and my worries to God. I had reached a point in my life where enough was enough, and this situation had to stop. But it was only the tip of the iceberg for the arrows and fiery darts of the enemy flying my way. I felt so helpless and alone, unable to dodge one more attack. I recalled the many times we've prayed for Israel's physical battles on every battle front, seven to be exact, and then a another strategic ambush from social media would compound all the damage.

I realize that because I speak so openly about trusting God in the midst of troubles, and say all the right things, lining them up with scriptures, that I am not immune to attack myself. In fact intercessors have huge bullseyes on our backs, spiritual targets, because we are standing in the gap, making up the hedge. And we encounter war in a different sense in our own lives. It's part of the calling. Usually when I get hit by the enemy, I am able to shrug it off, because I know better. But this time, the arrows were flying from all directions, and I had no place to turn, in the natural. I have grown so weary over the past months that I began to think about my being alone, without a human being who could really be supportive, not tangibly at least. My son, Daniel, tries very hard to understand, but he has his own battles. There was a tug of war between my head and my heart, plus my physical endurance has been low, so the enemy was trying to drag me back down the rabbit hole. Feelings resurfaced, and I was not happy with myself, or anyone else. But, God met me where I was, and Holy Spirit picked me back up, so I could focus. That's all I needed, and He's all I wanted, because I have experienced His Presence so often during times such as this one. Even Paul the Apostle was no immune to despair.

Many times when spiritual attacks come our human response is to reach out to a person, and I did end up calling a friend for prayer. Not for conversation, although I cried a bit and shared, but simply having someone who truly understood the struggle pray with me. I am grateful for my friend's support and for being willing to stand with me, even though she did not know the need, she understood the desperation. She knew intuitively, because she'd been at that very place many times before.

There are times when we need the calm assurance of a fellow intercessor, so we can refocus on Jesus, our Commander of the Armies of Heaven. I was too upset to hear His still small voice. All I could hear was the incessant chatter of the enemy.  Sometimes, in the pressing, in the process of pruning, God allows things to happen, and  I do understand the necessity of that, spiritually speaking, as we must be found faithful. We have to endure the pain and struggles to be made into vessels of honor fit for the Master's use. But it hurts, and I didn't understand why it was happening again. And God was silent in my dilemma. Maybe a nudge or two by Holy Spirit, but no real conversation. I felt like Elijah trudging off through the desert to get to the mountains to find God when Jezebel put a hit out on him. Sometimes I can laugh at myself when I begin to read scripture, reminding myself of Biblical history, applying it to my own situation. Often it's not something to laugh about, but our response to trials sometimes is laughable, especially when so-called seasoned veterans should know better. We are continually learning. And thank God for that!

Today began with a note of encouragement, and a bit of defiance against the enemy's tactics, but not by my hand. I had already considered the logic myself, before receiving a call of encouragement. By that time I kinda knew the direction I needed to go in hopefully resolving my dilemma, and if successful, it can prove helpful to many others. As Jesus said to His disciples in John 16:33: "In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

Day 193 Rest for Your Souls

Story pin image

7/12/2026

"Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden,

and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you

and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart,

and you will find rest for your souls.

For My yoke is easy and My burden is light."

Matthew 11:28-30

Last night I attended an online Harvest Crusade held at Angel Stadium for the 37th year! The stadium was packed, and many gave their hearts to the Lord Jesus. Now Harvest begins the process of disciplining the converts who will make Harvest their home church, and those who will be attending online services will hopefully become involved in the Discipleship Community online, of which I am a part. So there's much follow up to be done and much excitement seeing new believers grow in Christ.

It was a great evening with powerful worship by Michael W. Smith, Phil Wickham, Taya, Kari Jobe and her husband Cody Carnes, and the Harvest Ministry. The event began with a short documentary about America's 250 years and an enormous American Flag was held in place on the field by many, many volunteers, as tribute was made to the flag. Michael W. Smith sang, and the crusade kicked off with worship and dedication. Pastor Greg presented a message about the after life - life after we die and what that means. Are we ready to meet the Master and give an account for our lives lived here on earth? It's a sobering question, and one we will all have to answer. At the end, while Kari and Cody led worship, there was a fireworks display lighting up the sky, giving praise to our God of all Creation. The event ended, but now the work begins.

This morning I awakened to the sad news of Senator Lindsay Graham's untimely death. My heart grieves for his family and for the tremendous loss to our nation. He loved his country, and he was a staunch supporter of Israel and Ukraine. We pray blessings over his family during this time. His death really knocked me for a loop, and I am troubled beyond words. Scripture says for us to number our days, to make each day count, and perhaps his time of service for our Father had been completed. Only God knows these things. What I do know is that a wife lost her husband, and the family is suffering and grieving. We must lift them in prayer, and thank God for the time He loaned this fine champion of faith and loyalty to America. I pray that he is resting well in the arms of his Savior.

While Harvest was bringing in the "harvest" in California, Sean Feucht was holding a Let Him Worship night in Nashville celebrating his sixth year anniversary. When Covid shut down the churches, Sean took to the streets. Although he has been attacked multiple times over the years verbally and physically, he and his family threatened and his property destroyed, he and his young family and his team  continue to go forth sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ! Sean has even held meetings in the Middle East and other areas, wherever God calls, Sean goes. Tonight as he is playing Our God Reigns the power of Holy Spirit brings Heaven down, and I can feel God's Presence even in my home.

I wish I could express to those who seek, who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for a move of God, just what this feeling is like. I always figured that all churches who are preaching and teaching the Word of God experienced His Presence, but now I am understanding that this is not so. Many do not think that all the gifts of the Spirit operate in the church today. And then others pick and choose what they feel is true or not. There are so many things I do not understand, but I can read clearly the words of Jesus, and He did say to His disciples that not everyone would understand. In fact they were not meant to know. He spoke in parables, and He said He used them to speak to His disciples, so they would understand. There are many mysteries in Scripture, but one day, if we are faithful, we will see Him, and He will answer all our questions.

I do know that for those who accepted and believed in Him received rest to their souls. It is the same today. There are so many distractions vying for our attention, the enemy using anything and everything to distract us from reaching out to a lost and dying world, from even seeing the great need of another. May we be found laboring when the Son of God returns in this day.

Day 194 Triple Attack

7/13/2026

"O God, defend me from the charges of these merciless,

deceitful men. For you are God, my only place of refuge. Why

have you tossed me aside? Why must I mourn at the

oppression of my enemies? Oh, send out your light and your

truth - let them lead me. Let them lead me to Your Temple on Your

holy mountain, Zion. There I will go to the altar of God my exceeding joy,

and praise Him with my harp. O God - my God! O my soul, why

be so gloomy and discouraged? Trust in God. I shall again praise Him

for His wondrous help; He will make me smile again, for He is my God!"

Psalm 43 NLT

It's all out war here on the home front, and although my faith is strong, and my heart is full of the joy of the Lord, my knees are a little feeble at the moment. I called a friend for prayer this morning. I'm glad I had one to call. Someone who's been there, and she doesn't become overwhelmed if I am a bit rattled - momentarily. She promised to pray for me during the day, and I know she will. She said I could call her anytime, and I know she meant it. Do you know how few people say it and actually mean it?

My son is tip-toeing around today, trying to be supportive, but he doesn't know how. I must admit that I'd walk carefully around me if I was him. It has been encouraging having him with me, but I don't feel that I have encouraged him as much as he needs. A mother always wants the best for her children, and a she-bear does not like it when someone speaks harshly and wrongly against her bear cubs. My quiet, kind side has been challenged in recent months. Although I am very forgiving, as it's easy to forgive when one has been forgiven so much, I still have my moments when the hurt is so deep. Seeing my Savior's face, as He hang dying for my sins is something I can never forget. And I've seen much in my life. I don't always understand why God allows me to see things that I cannot hope to make another person understand. It's like that now. When I try to speak I get tongue-tied. I see the blank stares or hear the silence, and the conversation quickly changes. But, forgiveness, is easier than remembering, and I want to forget.

I'm in a troubling place today...actually it started on Friday or Saturday when the mail came in. One letter can change a world. Then one domino falls, and another, and soon there's an avalanche of bizarre things happening. All on a weekend that is dedicated to God. I wish I could say that I recognized the attack for what it was - a spiritual battle, but no, I am having a few hard days.

My Israeli friend, Chaim shared the above psalm when he reported on the war front today, and it seemed to fit my situation. If the soldiers who have spent 1011 consecutive days on active duty can continue to hold the line, then I can most definitely stand on the wall as a watchman. I can also stand with our American military personnel still there defending our freedom.

As I write these words, I am listening to live worship from Israel, and it is most comforting hearing the words "Hallelujah, shalom. Shalom, eternal Lord. We are not alone." Earlier I was listening to worship music from Bethel Music, and some of the words were so relevant to my feelings. I've also been listening to a documentary about Rich Mullins' life, and that brings my heart home. He was someone who understood without being told. He just saw into the heart or the spirit - things only God knows. But I understand that well, as I am the same. People we hang around, who are our friends, listen, show interest, and they try hard to follow and understand, but there is no way to explain what is seen, heard, or understood. It's weird to most people. And I admit the experience is surreal. It can become very lonely, and it makes friendships very rare. I don't even know if I am making sense now. Probably not.

The day is dwindling to a close, and it feels as if I have accomplished very little, unless being calm, sitting and listening can be considered as doing something. I admit that I am extremely tired, and I'd love to drift into a quiet sleep and find rest for my soul.

Perhaps tomorrow will bring relief.

Day 192 Desperate Enough Yet?!

This may contain: a woman in a pink dress holding a clock and wearing a helmet with feathers on her head

7/11/2026

"Study to show yourselves approved unto God,

a workman that needs not to be ashamed,

rightly dividing the word of truth."

2 Timothy 2:15

Does anyone really understand what Paul is saying in the verse above? It doesn't seem like it should be a foreign concept, but it appears that many do not take the advice to heart. This seems right up there with putting on the whole armor, that is not real actual armor like soldiers use, so maybe that's why it's left on the shelf each day along with the oil of prayer. That's an even more distant thought. I think I'm the one who coined that phrase "be well-oiled with prayer," as I've never seen it in text, nor have I heard anyone say it, and yet, there it is in Ephesians 6:18. I'm beginning to sound like Baby Trump who tries to let the audience know that he's always right. Not so, as I am learning each day, and that is a good thing, actually. If someone thinks he already knows it all, he will be sorely and sadly enlightened when we see Jesus face to face. Personally, I intend on learning daily, sitting at His feet. I want to go on long walks with Him, hikes would be better, but that means climbing up hills and passing through brush and swinging branches, occasional brush fires, and predators at every turn. But I do that now! Still, following Him is the best path to take, the narrow way, the less chosen way. Once we're with Him in eternity, we won't have to worry about any evil coming near us. I can only imagine how wonderful that will be!

So why was Paul exhorting young Timothy to know and continue to study the Word? He realized that all men are tempted, but those who strive to serve God will be sought out by the enemy to defeat, isolate, and destroy their testimony. Paul reminds Timothy of the sound training of his mother and grandmother, as he has witnessed first hand the betrayal of those who pretend to be a friend while scheming and making evil plans to the contrary. He knows that many teachers of false doctrine will come. When Paul wrote these words he was in a Roman prison cell, but he wanted to encourage Timothy to stand fast, reminding him of the sound teaching he had received from childhood, reminding him that:

"All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work."  (2 Timothy 3:16-17)

He charged Timothy to preach the Word, being ready in season and out, always ready to give the reason of hope within him. This is as we all should be, passionate about sharing the whole counsel of the Word, because there will come a time when scoffers would come, those who would teach to words that tickled the ears of their hearers. Compromising the Word of the Lord, and yet this is not new. It has been so such the beginning. I heard a testimony from an evangelist who was experiencing his 50th anniversary as an evangelist, a soul winner, following the mandate of Christ Jesus as He ascended to heaven. Back in the early days of his ministry, he was a pastor, but he was not able to remain so, because he was asked to compromise the gospel. Thank the Lord that he stood on his own, and God has blessed so many through this ministry.

Many are praying for revival, a mighty spiritual awakening in our era, as things in this world are increasingly worseningand they will continue to do so, unless the believers in Christ, the church, get busy and do the work we were given to do

"And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, 'All authority as been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.'" Amen. (Matthew 28:18-20)

Revival begins with repentance, and it requires a hunger and thirst for righteousness. Much self-examination precedes a mighty move of God. It requires surrender, absolute, total surrender to the will of God. The cost is heavy, so have to be serious. The question is are we desperate for change? for revival? Or are we waiting out the Rapture. This is not the time for passivity. This is a time for action. But first, we must ask for it, with open hearts, worshiping God. Worship is your highest praise and your best weaponSuit up!

Are you desperate?

Day 191 Troubling Times

Story pin image

7/10/2026

"Cease not to pray, and if the answer tarries,

wait. God will come, and He can

never come too late."

Daily Walk

I openly admit that there are many things that I do not know or understand, and, quite honestly, I don't care or want to know. Some people have to know the answer to every question and somehow explain everything away, but life is just not that way. Besides which, the only one who has the answers is God, whose existence to many is considered as myth, or at least in my family. It's amazing what modern day counselors and psychologists can do to manipulate minds to suit their mindset and increase their popularity and bookings. It's easier to put the blame on another rather than have a person face their own self-made demons. I'm witnessing some pretty disturbing things, if I thought of it that way. Fortunately for me, I trust in the God I serve, so I don't have to be concerned about the tricks of the devil and what he is attempting to do to certain members of my family. I may have done some things wrong in my parenting years, but I did take my children to church, teach them to know and love Jesus, and to know God's word. I tried to teach them right from wrong and respect for others, doing the honorable thing, even when not popular. I even taught how to take care of themselves and taught them household skills and basics. The Bible says if we train up our children in this way, then all that training won't leave them. It sticks, and I am counting on that truth. So in essence, satan can try all he wants to steal, kill, and destroy, but he can't have what doesn't belong to him, and my family is off limits.

I've been blessed by God, and in the last twenty years of my life He has placed me in positions where I could learn and grow, so that I could enhance and encourage someone else's life. I always wanted to be a medical missionary, and somehow God pulled that off in a rather tortuous, winding path, rather than a straight laced manner I may have preferred. But then, my life has been anything but conventional. Every time I sit down to write, I lose focus and my mind becomes blank. I can know so clearly what I want or need to say, sit down, place my fingers on the keys, and NOTHING! It's hard to share some things, but I'm trying to stick with the mandate to write.

My mornings are pretty much the same - hungry cats inside and outside, all saying "feed me first!" in their cat language that makes it quite obvious that they have been waiting for me to drag my lazy carcass from the bed. It doesn't matter to them that I haven't slept well, or that I spent a lot of time pandering to their needs the day before. Cats tend to be "me first" and a rather ungrateful species. I hope little Mina does not pick up that characteristic. After I grab my coffee I love to crawl up into my chair with my journal and Bible, look out my window and talk to Abba about anything - everything, before the prayer watch. And from there my day is as it is. Very few plans other than "get it done" with tasks, housework, appointments, and the like. It sounds simple, but many times it is overwhelming before it even begins.

This afternoon I plan to finish mowing the grass that is so dense and high from all the rainfall. That is unless it rains - again, but then I should be grateful as New Mexico, Utah, and Colorado all have forest  fires going on right now. Many places are facing drought, even here in Virginia. We are blessed, at least in my area, to have had some rain. The fires in Northern New Mexico are not in the direction of my daughter's home, and I pray that they do not cross any of the territory that the fires in 2022 affected. The restoration from the devastation of those fires is still underway, and the water systems still have not been restored so the drinking water remains unsafe. The residents still have to use bottled water in the Las Vegas, New Mexico area where my daughter lives. It doesn't seem to be a priority to the powers that be, as circumstances remain unchanged after all this time. So I pray that the fires will be extinguished and people, animals - livestock and forest animals - land and homes will be spared. Lord, please send the storm clouds and rain down Your mercy!

Picking back up my writing, it is now later in the day, I look back over the above thoughts and considerations, and here's how my day progressed. I did get most of the yard cut before the rain fell, but with Shabbat approaching, it will have to wait. I only have one side remaining to be cut, so it won't require too much exertion, I hope! I am seriously considering the purchase of my John Deere lawnmower while the sale is on. I have a few days left to consider.

The prayer call was high energy as we considered all that had happened in a short period of time. Our President here in America has been in Turkey at a meeting, and negotiations with Iran were halted after Iran decided to blow up a few things with our government in mind. One of my favorite sayings is that one cannot dance with the devil, but then we don't really know the complex workings of the mind of our government leaders. I don't tend to deviate from my confidence in the often confusing or somewhat concerning actions of our commander in chief, because I know that God has His hand on those He has placed in positions of authority. My trust and hope is not in man or machine, rather it is in God! As an intercessor we often get a bit harried by the continuous stream of news that's filled with lies and distortions, but we settle down, get together in our meetings, and we agree in prayer on what God's word says. Death and life are in the power of the tongue according to Proverbs 18:21, so guard your speech!

One of my scripture readings for today was Psalm 135 that speaks of God's blessing on Israel, reminding them of all He's done for them, beginning with delivering them from the hands of Pharaoh. God speaks about the enemies of Israel in verses 15 - 18 which could easily characterize our enemies we have today:

"The idols of the heathen are silver and gold, the work of men's hands. They have mouths, but they speak not; eyes have they, but they see not; they have ears, but they hear not; neither is there any breath in their mouths. They that make them are like unto them: so is every one that trusts in them."

Governments make idols of wealth and power, and they become back patters and flatterers as long as it gets them where they need or want to go. Rather than obedience to God's laws, they follow what seems right or convenient to themselves, and instead of fear and reverence of the Lord, they tend to follow the other enemy's way of living. And yet, although there are many who bemoan and even rant and rail against the hypocrisy, they do nothing other than that, when as citizens we have the privilege of making change if we only stand up, speak out, and exercise our God-given right to vote in elections. Even then though, I am aghast to discover that unwise people vote for those who would lead our nation to folly and destruction. Are there that many people so blind that they cannot see, deaf that they cannot hear? This leaves me confused to say the very least! Baffled, and very ashamed that things have come to such a state.

Is anyone paying attention? Does it matter to you? If so, what are you doing about it?!

"And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray,

and not to faint; saying, 'There was in a city a judge, which feared not God,

neither regarded man: and there was a widow in that city;

and she came unto him, saying, "Avenge me of mine adversary."

and he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself,

Though I fear not God, nor regard man; yet because this widow troubles me,

I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.

And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith.

And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him,

though he bear long with them? I tell you that he will avenge them speedily.

Nevertheless when the Son of man comes,

shall he find faith on the earth?"

  Luke 18:1-8

Day 190 Of Men & Churches - Perspective

7/9/2026

"But we have this treasure in earthen vessels,

that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us."

 2 Corinthians 4:7

Another early morning rainfall. Sometimes I think the grass grows two feet with every trickle of water. We've yet to put up the new tent for the lawnmower and other machines, but thankfully the tarps are functional. It's just after noon now, and I smell rain in the slight breeze blowing through my window. The sun is peeping out ever so gently still, and I don't really see any rain clouds within my present view from my bedroom window, but I feel the pressure shift in my head and the pain in my ankle from my mishap yesterday while fighting the Virginia Creeper once again. My life is full of so many twists and turns - literally!

It was exciting to see our CEO Dr. Jurgen hosting the morning call. He's been battling some pesky health issues for a couple of years now, and he recently was in the hospital again, so it's so good to see him as his teaching is inspired. Although he's been pressed and pruned during this process, God has been blessing him with so much insight. Today he shared from the Torah portion found in Numbers 22 - 25 where Balak king of the Moabites sent for Balaam, so he could curse Israel whom they feared. Everyone knows the story of Balaam and his talking donkey, but there is much more to the story.

When Balak's men first arrived to garner Balaam's assistance, God told him to send them away. The men had promised Balak a fee for his services, so I imagine that was a consideration. Still, he told them to go away, as the LORD had spoken. So they returned back to Moab, but Balak would not accept no as an answer, and he sent another group of men to entreat Balaam to come. Finally, God let him go, but He was not pleased with Balaam's readiness to do so. This is where the donkey part of the story comes in, but we can skip over that part for now.

Balaam arrives on the scene, and Balak took him up to the high places of Baal and showed Balaam the "extent of the people" meaning the edge of one side of the camp near and exposing the outside of the camp where the defiled people (lepers, other sick, lame, those guilty of crimes and such) live. Obviously Balak wanted him to see how detestable the people must be, even to their God. But Balak didn't realize that God does not see man as man views man.

"And God met Balaam, and he said to Him, 'I have prepared the seven altars, and I have offered on each altar a bull and a ram.' Then the LORD put a word in Balaam's mouth, and said, 'Return to Balak, and thus you shall speak.' So he returned to him, and there he was, standing by his burnt offering, he and all the princes of Moab. And he took up his oracle and said: 'Balak the king of Moab has brought me from Aram, from the mountains of the east. Come, curse Jacob for me, and come, denounce Israel!' 'How shall I curse whom God has not cursed? And how shall I denounce whom the LORD has not denounced? For from the top of the rocks I see him, and from the hills I behold him; there! A people dwelling alone not reckoning itself among the nations. Who can count the dust of Jacob, or number one-fourth of Israel? Let me die the death of the righteous, and let my end be like his!'" (Numbers 23:4-10).

This did not make Balak happy, Balaam had blessed Israel, not cursed them! So Balak decided to take him to another fringe of the outpost, so he could curse them. But again, Balaam saw what God wanted him to see and God gave Balaam the blessing to speak. The final time Balak wanted him to see Israel's entire camp so he took him to a higher vantage point. Balaam didn't need Balak's perspective to realize that God was pleased with His chosen people. So finally when Balaam looked out over the heights at Israel, Balaam truly saw the Israeli camp and the people God favored. He saw through God's eyes, and once again, He blessed Israel with a blessing, rather than a curse. Balak failed to distort Balaam's perspective, because he saw what God wanted him to see, and He blessed them.

Today many lies and distortion of facts are being pushed on to gullible people who fail to think for themselves. Rather, they accept what certain people, even pastors and leaders in seminaries, as fact. Contrary to what many accept as truth, only God and the Word of God are the source of all truth. Men trust in men and governments, but believers and followers of Jesus Christ only listen to the truth of God's Word.

Also, well-meaning followers of Christ, including myself, often become perturbed by news and the actions of those who should know better. We become impatient when God has His own timing and His own way of doing things. But the "tongue" or the "heart" get us into trouble, and I know for myself that I need to guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus. This is why I am faithful to meditate on scriptures, like Psalm 139:23-24, asking God to search my heart and see if there is any wicked way in me. As an intercessor, I must focus only on Jesus, the Commander of the Armies of Heaven. He has spoken this warning to me over and over.

We all sin and fall short of God's glory, and as such, we must keep our hearts pure and our thoughts stayed on Christ. We must put on the whole armor of God daily, as we wrestle not again flesh and blood but principalities, powers, spiritual darkness of this age, and spiritual wickedness/evil in heavenly places. We must be aware and stand in the gap for others. These are dark days, but we do not fear, because we know that Jesus has already overcome!

Day 189 Muggy Day

7/8/2026

So, as this day comes to a close what great wisdom can I impart to those who bravely choose to read this blog?! I feel blank, and a lot undone!

First off - today is the birthday of a young friend in Velarde, New Mexico, where I lived prior to moving back to Virginia. Michael is 17 years of age today. I lived next door to him and his family and all their many dogs that were forever having puppies. I've spoken of the family before, and of their many dogs. Kenya, a Malamute that I adored, was my favorite four-legged friend. She passed away and left us very lonely, as she had been with the family her entire life. When I moved into the house beside them, it was love at first sight, and Kenya adopted me as another family member. I loved spending time with her, and she'd see me every morning, and greet me every evening. Many animals have crossed my path, but she was very special to me, as are the humans in the family. I grew to love them as if they were my own, especially Michael and his younger sister, Gen. They'd take the time to visit this ole lady who lived alone and surrounded herself with stuffed animals and other memories. Michael used to share some of his birthday cakes with me, although I am not supposed to eat gluten. I think God protected me, as He does from a great many potential harms.

I received a text message from Michael this evening in response to mine of earlier this morning, and the message touched my heart. He said I was like another grandmother, not just a neighbor. I hope that's true, because I loved hanging around the kids, and I never get to see my own. My son, Daniel has children he helped raise who, although not his blood children, are still my grandchildren, and I even have great-grandchildren. I count them all as mine, and I love them as mine. Sometimes blood relatives are not as close, regardless of how much love you give and how well you try to take care of them. I'm finding that teaching children how to take care of themselves, or how to do simple household chores, is abuse. I used to laugh about how nonsensical that sounded, but I am no longer laughing. I taught my children about the love and goodness of God, but even now that is a form of tyranny in many legal circles. I could go on and on, but the point is that this is a very different world. That's why it's so special when someone reaches out to me and tells me I made a difference in their lives. For the better. So thank you, dear Michael for making my day!

Yesterday was the birthday of another friend who lives in New Mexico, who is little older than I am and is a very dear friend. When I spoke with her today she couldn't remember who I was, because of some health issues and memory loss. Her brother kept reminding her of things I'd ask her. Besides being my friend she was a case management patient of mine, and she was blind yet chose to live alone. She had a seizure and fell, and she was on the floor without assistance for some time. This accident may have caused the new diagnosis that is causing this decline. I am very attached to the entire family, and I have already lost two of their members. I hadn't been able to get past the death of the matriarch of the family who died around Christmas in 2021, and then not that long ago her daughter died. We'd kept in close touch, and I loved her like she were my own. Now watching another one deteriorate mentally and physically. Somehow I feel responsible, because I moved. I've always felt this way about my mother's decline in health, as if I had something to do with it for moving away. I realize it's the enemy giving me these thoughts, but even so, I miss them all dreadfully, and I wish I could see them again. Of course, all of them are Christians who are waiting for Jesus to return and snatch them out of their graves. What a day that will be when we meet together in the air! We have that blessed hope from God.

So many thoughts, sadness mixed to good memories and joy. Even on a muggy, hot day we can find peace and joy in Jesus. As I ready myself for bed, I'll ask Abba for peace and rest. I'll remember. I'm so blessed to have wonderful ones to remember.

Good night.

Day 188 Shadow Vision

7/7/2028

"For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face.

Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known."

1 Corinthians 13:12

Yesterday was the first day that I've missed an entire global prayer call, but sometimes emergencies happen for us here in America. I guess saving an abandoned, emaciated kitten counts for something! Firemen have been known to rescue a stranded cat in a tree, or so the story goes. Still I never like to miss a call, as every second on the clock counts, as does every prayer. And just because I couldn't visibly see the panel, I can still carry them in my heart and prayers. Change has always been hard for me, but then, it seems to be more the norm for me since moving here. Perhaps God is trying to teach me something new. Who knows maybe it's an answer to prayer, and I just haven't recognized it yet. God does have His own ways of doing things.

Kitty Mina is doing well, responding to her medication, and walking a bit stronger. She's eating and doing everything a normal, healthy little kitten does, as far as I know. Daniel's the expert on felines. I'm just grandma! But I also am her nurse and the one who gives her the medications which she gratefully receives. She definitely has a good appetite, and her eyes look amazingly better. I thank God for her rapid recovery, but I also am grateful to the veterinarian and his staff. Chesdin Animal Hospital has been a family owned practice since 1984, and I love any business where families works together carrying on long-honored traditions.

I also had an annual eye appointment, and although he had some concerns my corrected vision remains 20/20. So other than seeing him in six months now and taking a supplement, I'm sure things will work out well. The hazards of too many blows to the ole head. I really need to give up boxing as a hobby!

Yesterday we also had another mishap at home, so today we went to Home Depot to check out refrigerators. My parent's old refrigerator is pretty old, and it sure has lasted a long, long, long time, just like the previous stove that had rusted burners in multiple places. This old friend, a Whirlpool, mama's favorite brand of appliances, was rusted, with leaking under the bottom and in the inside of the refrigerator. The temperature has to be turned up more each time, so the food is not as cold, and the produce does not last very long. It's been in need of replacement for a good time, but I don't let go of well- worn friends easily. Sadly today, her number was just about up. The new one, a Frigidaire, will arrive on Wednesday of next week, so the little lady has until then to serve us. I know she will do so valiantly.

Tuesdays are hard days for me. I used to attend a prayer meeting with some folks who are in some of the other larger groups I attend, primarily the global prayer call with Israel. When Daniel had the accident in early December I found it difficult to get through the red tape of all the paperwork and such, plus it seemed as if one thing after another kept happening. And so it has continued, so I needed to make some changes. Although I miss the group, I think it may be better for me this way. Seasons come and seasons go, but God knows what He's doing. My job is to trust and obey.

The heat and the humidity were not as disagreeable today, so this evening is much cooler weather to sleep. Remember, I'm without an air conditioner like most of you spoiled folks. But who knows tomorrow is another day, so an air conditioner may be just the ticket!

Day 187 Surprise!

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord.
“For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways,
And My thoughts than your thoughts."

Isaiah 55:8-9

I woke up very early several times this morning, beginning around 5 am, and I just did not want to stay up. I rebelled and laid back down until 6 am, and I still did not want to get up. Still, although I didn't feel His nudge, I knew something may be up, so I checked my kids in Israel. No bombs, no drones, thankfully. I checked the news, and there was nothing new. No unnerving news from prayer groups, and no other surprises yet unnamed. My life can be complicated. But no! It seemed safe to lie back down until the alarm went off, so I grabbed some ice for my back and rested a bit. Finally at 7 am I got up, greeted my day, and grabbed a cup of coffee. I had to ask Abba to forgive me for being lazy - again - but He knows when I don't sleep well from pain that it is harder to drag myself up. I have to persevere, I know, but some days can be tough. That'll teach me to stay away from trees and other life-altering experiences that an ole lady my age should knowingly avoid. Besides which, I had an eye appointment scheduled for the early afternoon, so I needed to be ready to go after my prayer call.

While in the kitchen I cleaned Mia's bowls, gave her fresh water and food, patted her on the head and asked her if she'd slept well. Cats are not the most lovable creatures, generally, so Mia only had food and fresh water on her mind. I washed Alex's bowls and I placed those on the porch, as Alex tends to come home either very early or mid-morning. I imagine he's out "mousing" before he settles down for the morning side-meal. When I went back inside from putting Alex's bowls on the stoop, I heard what sounded like a bird, and then listening more closely it sounded like crying. I thought Alex had hurt himself or the squirrel had gotten the better of him, so I went outside to investigate. There in my flower garden was the straggliest, bony, starved little kitten I've ever seen, crying for all it was worth. All 1 lb 6 oz of her! Her eyes were infected, so I cleaned them with a warm wash cloth, and that seemed to help. Still she was hungry and needed love. She looked so emaciated and wouldn't eat or drink water, plus the eyes concerned me, so my son Daniel and I decided to pack her up and take her to the vet close by, so off we went.

The vet didn't wasn't opened for business yet, then we had a bit of a wait, but all the dogs coming in for their routine visits were so adorable! It was the friendliest atmosphere I've been in for a while. They named the cat Jane Doe, as we were yet uncertain of whether she was Jane or John at that point. As it turned out, she was a Jane, but Daniel called her Mina, as he'd already fallen in love with the bedraggled sweetie. He's tenderhearted that way. Me - well I love all animals, but dogs are my best buds. Alex is an anomaly - another one who just showed up on our doorstep. I'm certain that Alex probably tells every unwanted stray that they'll be welcome at our house, as we've had several visitors come and go, including birds who crave Alex's cat food. They prefer their meal on the porch rail, however. What a strange life I live. I even have a opossum who stops by from time to time. I need a new Welcome Sign - WELCOME! ALL Creatures - Great and Small! But no reptiles! I've had that too, courtesy of Alex when I rejected the half dead mouse he left me early on in our friendship. Once I said "NO SNAKES!" I never saw another one. Like I tell you - cats have a mind of their own!

So back to Mina - she was diagnosed and treated for an upper respiratory infection and conjunctivitis - no surprise there. She was malnourished, and she needed a lot of love and attention. As noted earlier, she weighed a little over a pound, and she was about seven weeks old. She had ear mites and fleas, but she received treatment for that as well. Otherwise, she's due back in a month or earlier if need be. Back at home she's quarantined from Mia until she gets rid of the fleas and mites. She's enjoying my nice queen size bed and my special friends who watch over it. I sleep in my mom's room, so that worked out, plus I'd just uncluttered it so I could doing some sewing, so Miss Mina had the best of both worlds. I never thought my life would be this way, but God does have His ways of softening this ole gal's heart.

The night before I had gone to bed troubled over some things. For one I didn't know when I could go to New Mexico to visit my daughter, Kristie. I haven't been back since I came here. I knew I couldn't leave Daniel without a vehicle, and I had qualms about driving the Mercury since I haven't had it that long. It's just a quirk I have, but it's a great car, and God always protects me. Besides Holy Spirit is always here inside, outside, all around. But Daniel! He's all alone, and he's been depressed since losing his friend, Bryan, who has to be away. So, once more as I prepared for sleep I'd asked Abba to please show me what to do. After all He's the trip planner, not me. So I believe Mina is part of the answer to my prayer. Daniel  loves animals, especially vulnerable, helpless little critters who need love, care, and protection. He has a huge heart, and he is often misinterpreted by his size and stance. Daniel's been through much trauma in his life, some self-imposed in response to man's violations and cruelties. People tend to judge by outward appearances as we have learned from scriptures - and from life. He knows he has Mina, as well as Mia, now, so that gives him purpose. So, I trust God's plan - I must! Else I have no true faith at all! It's been a difficult almost five years since I arrived back home. But there's a reason for everything. Nothing in life is happenstance.

I'm not sure what will come of it all, but I'm open to any surprises God wants to give. He's watched over us since He placed us here on this earth, and I've no doubts that He will continue what He has begun! How can I be so certain? Philippians 1:6 Paul says,  "Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ."

More than that though, God said it in Jeremiah 29:11, "'For I know the thoughts that I think toward you,' says the Lord, 'thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.'" And if God said it, then that settles it!

"Forever, O Lord,
Your word is settled in heaven.

Day 186 Awake, O Sleeper!

 Story pin image

7/5/2026

“Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.”

Ephesians 5:13-14

As part of my celebration for our country's 250th America Celebration I decided that since I hadn't had a chance to see the movie A Great Awakening about the life of George Whitefield, that I would pamper myself. I even pulled out my air popper and binged on popcorn, Junior Mints, and Mexican Coke. Generally my soda of choice is Dr. Pepper, but as far as I know, the real sugar brand is not offered here. If I am going to indulge myself in sweets, then I must avoid the high fructose corn sugar. And if there is any in the Junior Mints, I doubt three mints will cause much harm, as I can only stomach three at a sitting.

I gathered a few of my friends, who shall remain nameless, and we enjoyed the movie not just once, but we watched it again today after church. It is that powerful! Every pastor should watch it, so our nation can be truly revived, and America can be saved!

Watching the interaction between George Whitefield and the people in prison, the people in the coal camp, and how people dropped everything and went the distance to hear him preach made me undone. I cried just thinking of the impact he had on the lives of the desperate, the hurting, the lost and needy, and I wondered where are the George Whitefield's of today. Passionate men of God, hungry to evangelize the lost, no matter the cost. As the friendship developed between Whitefield and Benjamin Franklin, I do believe that in spite of what any media says that Ben Franklin had to have given his heart to Christ at some point. His son asked him once if Whitefield was in the revolution, and Franklin responded "He was the revolution!" Once Whitefield surrendered to Christ he was determined to preach hard truth and straight Bible. And although Whitefield had a voice that could be heard for a great, great distance - Franklin guessed over 30,000 could hear him - when he spoke of the love of Christ it was with gentleness and authority. He wanted others to know that love and acceptance a life with Jesus gives, and when he experienced his own personal revelation while ministering to those in prison, he remained strong even when attacked with coal while ministering to others. It was an amazing story of a man filled with passion for soul-winning. We should all have his zeal.

The story began with Benjamin Franklin as a young boy, about ten years of age, and his insatiable curiosity of science and technology, although the latter term was not known in his day. His father was a candle maker and a pastor, and although his father wanted him to be a pastor, Franklin ran from it, calling them boring and dull. I imagine he'd have a lot to say about some of the churches here today. Ben Franklin was offered an opportunity to work in his brother's print shop, and that's how he got his start. When he met Whitefield he already knew of his popularity, and they teamed up with Franklin providing the flyers of upcoming meetings in cities far and wide. This is how their friendship began and developed. Whitefield lamented the fact that he could lead so many to accept Christ, yet he could not change the heart of his friend.

Today in our Harvest service Pastor Jonathan shared Benjamin Franklin's words to George Washington:

"I have lived, Sir, a long time, and the longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this truth - that God governs in the affairs of men. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without His notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without His aid? We have been assured, Sir, in the sacred writings that except the Lord build, they labor in vain that build it. I firmly believe this, and I also believe that without His concurring aid, we shall succeed in this political building no better than the builders of Babel."

A man who can understand the clarity of those statement had to be affected by the preaching of his friend. The movie ended with this final quote:

"I have often in the course of session, looked at that sun behind the President without being able to tell whether it is rising or setting. But not at length I have the happiness to know that it is a rising and not a setting sun."

Benjamin Franklin - September 17, 1787, Constitution Day

When the men were gathered in the Constitutional Convention arguing incessantly and unable to come to a consensus concerning any point if law, Franklin's silence was questioned by a very garrulous younger spokesman. Franklin's response could well be used in today's Congressional setting. He said: "He that speaks much, is much mistaken."  He also said: "One judges a tree by its fruit; this convention is a thorn bush!"

To which we hear the wise voice of one George Whitefield speaking over a crowd of people needing to decide how to direct their lives - "Awake, O Sleeper! Come forth!"

Day 185 Let Freedom Ring!

7/4/2026

"If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed."

 John 8:36

My heart swells with joy as I look upon the lush, fresh clean beauty of the land where I live. Home of my parents, purchased through hard work and determination and maintained by the sweat of my daddy's brow. Now it falls as my task to rebuild what time has decayed, and for me, it is a blessing, a gift God has given me to pay homage to the memory of my parents who loved their family, their home, and their country. But I believe it is for a much higher purpose that I am here to fix up this place, and it is not just so it can pass to my son once I have finished my earthly journey. No, I feel that it is part of what God has for me to do while I am here. What that is will remain to be seen.

My mama worked beside my dad in many of the updates to the home over the years. Mama was a seamstress, and she upholstered chairs to include car seats, and she made most of my clothing. If she didn't have a pattern for something, she'd make her own or figure out how to "fix" or completely redesign a project from looking at it and determining what she needed to do. It was nothing short of miraculous, and I know God gifted her with many talents she never shared or used. Whenever we purchased any item she would thrill when the label or tag boldly announced "Made in America." Surely my mama, although unknown to this nation, was one of the greatest artisans God created and placed on this earth. She could do just about anything, as my daddy would proudly attest.

My daddy would have loved today's festivities for the Freedom 250 Salute, although he would have enjoyed them from home most likely. He did have adventures after he retired, and my parents did a fair bit of traveling within the United States, but they never ventured past the  borders of America. My daddy purchased some land in Florida during his truck driving days, but he eventually sold it, and he remained in Virginia, satisfied with the life that he lived. He was extremely generous with what little he had, and he taught the lesson of generosity to me and my siblings. It's a lesson I cherish.

Today's festivities have been either postponed or canceled due to the extreme heat in the DC area, so it's been difficult trying to follow the programs as initially scheduled. Last night I was privileged to hear the President's speech from the Mount Rushmore America 250 Fireworks Celebration, and I was able to listen to a great country artist, Chancey Williams, prior to the keynote speech by the President. My daddy certainly would have enjoyed the entertainment, as this young man had a tremendous voice. My daddy liked country music, but he loved bluegrass. In his speech President Trump shared that "Liberty has prevailed here because of the culture and the character of the people who declared it, defended it, and preserved it." My folks never got to know President Trump, but somehow I think my daddy may have approved. I know he would especially like the fact that he gives glory to God, and his speeches have increasingly done so. As it should be.

At the Freedom 250 Salute to America our President honored several veterans who had served in major wars during the years:

"Trump honored the nation’s warriors on stage. He was joined on stage by Medal of Honor recipient Colonel Paris Davis, 87, who was recognized for his extraordinary heroism during a battle in the Vietnam War in 1965; Captain Ken Schubring, 104, who fought for Japan’s unconditional surrender after surviving the December 7, 1941, Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor; Navy Lieutenant Arthur Rose, 107, who led landings on D-Day in 1944; Marine Cpl. Don Graves, 101, who was one of only 18 to survive the brutal Battle of Iwo Jima; Marine Corporal Pat Finn, 94, and Marine Corps Private First Class Rudy Meekins, 95, who fought against communism in the Korean War; and Captain Lloyd “Sonny” Ray, recipient of the Silver Star Medal of valor in combat for leading his unit in the Vietnam War against an enemy many times their size."

"The president thanked them for vanquishing fascism and standing 'against the evil of communism in the Cold War.'”

In his keynote speech President Trump said America would never be a Communist country. True patriots appreciate his fervor and determination, especially in view of events happening within our government at this time. When I was growing up my parents, like most Virginians appreciated the Democratic party, but today it has become twisted and far removed from the values it once held, even resorting to extreme bents to socialism and communism. It is inconceivable to me that our nation has succumbed to such extremism, much less allow anyone in office who did not show allegiance to their own country. How could this be possible in a just and fair system of law?! But in a society where abortion and euthanasia are widely accepted, along with other irreverent practices, it is not surprising. I am glad that my gentle, God-fearing parents and grandparents are not here to witness these shameful acts. The only hope for our nation is to turn back to God.

One aspect of the Salute to America that I particularly enjoyed was that our military were involved in the entertainment, especially in the closing musical performance. Popular songs from my generation were performed by vocalists from different branches of the military. What a wonderful way to end the festivities with a beautiful display of fireworks continuing all during the performances. I must say that each branch of our military has great bands, but they are also blessed with magnificent soloists. Thank you President Trump and all involved in giving us a 250th Celebration of America to long be remembered!

Happy Birthday America! Long may your freedom ring! In God we Trust!
