I love Reinhard Bonnke's theology, don't you? He was quite the evangelist and soul winner for Christ, and his words continue to reverberate within the hearts of his followers and co-laborers in Christ's service. He is one person I wish I had known, but then many are the servants God has placed in this life to whom I am grateful, for their wisdom and confidence, as they gazed into the eyes of our Savior, sat at His feet, proclaiming to all the goodness of our God.
Yesterday my heart was heavy, but even so it continues today, as I learn once more of hidden secrets revealed in the life of one I held dear in the Lord's service. No doubt, such things will continue as the days approach the return of the King, because Jesus said whatever is concealed in darkness would be revealed in the light of day. It is happening all so quickly.
Today prayer has been called from 6 pm until the same time tomorrow. As we take our places upon the wall at the appointed times, I pray for clarity to come from God about His plans only, rather than man's agenda and the desires of his heart. God is not concerned with the things we think are so important, not when it concerns the salvation of man. He is very clear in His word what is to be our priority, beginning with prayer for the peace of Jerusalem and the welfare of His chosen people. Again, be reminded that all who have put their faith in Jesus Christ as the Messiah have been grafted into the olive vine, and we share in the inheritance of Israel, the covenant God gave to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. There is no longer Jew nor Gentile, but One New Man.
The word of the Lord for today comes from Revelation 3:5-6: 'He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life; but I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels. "He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches."'
The book The Revelation of Jesus Christ was written by the Apostle John while he was exiled on the island of Patmos. The book deals with the unveiling of what is to be in God's plan of redemption, the revelation of Jesus Christ, through Whom alone comes the salvation of the world. It is the only book that comes with a blessing to all who read it. I know it can appear difficult to read, often scary to those who do not understand it, or perhaps, they understand it better than they may want to admit. Still, as with all things pertaining to scripture, we see in part, and we know in part:
"For we know in part and we prophesy in part.
But when that which is perfect has come, then that which
is part will be done away. When I was a child,
I spake as a child; but when I became a man, I put away
childish things. For now we see in a mirror, dimly,
but then, fact to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall
know just as I also am known."
1Corinthians 13:9-12
In Revelation, following the word of the Lord, John is speaking to the seven churches in Asia, and he begins: "Grace to you and peace from Him who is and who was and who is to come, and from the seven Spirits who are before His throne, and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth." Further in verse 8 in clarification of His identity, the Lord responds: "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End," says the Lord, "who is and who was and who is to come the Almighty." John continues in Chapters 2 and 3 to send individual letters to the seven churches - Ephesus, The Loveless Church; Smyrna, The Persecuted Church; Pergamos, The Compromising Church; Thyatira, The Corrupt Church; Sardis, The Dead Church; Philadelphia, The Faithful Church; Laodicea, The Lukewarm Church. These churches correspond to our churches today and the condition in which the Lord finds them. Judging from the descriptions after each name, the condition does not appear favorable, although the Lord always leaves place for correction, for transformation.
Throughout the pages of prophecy God announces to His people the condition of our souls, and our desperate need of salvation. Through the prophets He announces the punishment of His disobedient church, and the reconciliation and restoration. He does this on behalf of those who believe, His remnant, of which we are a part. Right now we are at a pivotal time in history, and we have to be about our Father's business. Like Reinhard Bonnke the Lord has had many voices across the years who have called the nations to repentance. America's best known is Billy Graham, but there were others like him known as Holy Sojourners, Jonathan Edwards (1703-1758); John Wesley (1703-1791); Charles Wesley (1707-1788; George Whitfield (1714-1770); Charles Spurgeon (1834-1892); C.S. Lewis (1898-1963), to name a few. Today we have Franklin Graham and his son, Will Graham, who are following in Billy's footsteps. Behind these great men are great mothers and wives, those who prayed, as well as other intercessors who have stood in the gap and who stand in the gap, praying and trusting God for a mighty outpouring of His Holy Spirit, as promised will come in the last days as written by the prophet Joel.
There are evangelists in the churches that I follow - Greg Laurie and Jack Hibbs and Sean Feucht, the worship pastor who stood against the California Governor who forced the churches to close during the pandemic. Some did not bow to man, and this young man was one who refused to stop praising God! We pray for revival, we pray for miracles of healing, deliverance, and salvation, but we don't really believe it can happen. But miracles do happen and are happening, because people are hungry, and they turn out in droves looking for hope, chasing after truth, finding Jesus. Ask Sean Feucht, Mario Murillo, and Todd Coconato; better yet, attend their meetings. Mario holds tent meetings in any city where he's invited. He's been around since the Jesus Revolution, as have Greg Laurie and Jack Hibbs. Look for Sean on any street!
These are exciting times, and the impossible is happening! This is the time to divorce yourselves from the ugly news, study up on what the Lord is saying to the churches in His word, know the whole counsel of the word, and steal away with Jesus. Get to know Him for Who He is, and get involved in the local church. Be part of the impossible and find your place in the body of Christ, your gift and calling. We have a world that needs to know Jesus loves them. We need restoration in our families; I know I need that. Pray and commit, and then get going. Jesus is coming back, and we have to be ready. The harvest is ripe!!
