Another busy day, another long day. Tomorrow brings a much-needed weekend, and a time to rest from my labors. Counting the minutes!
Storms on the wind swept sea have slapped me silly this week, but there has been peace in the midst of the turmoil. In life there will be struggles, storm tossed days, times when fair weather cannot be seen on the horizon. I thank God that during these times when the beating of the waves and rising torrents threaten to destroy all peace and security, there is a still small voice whispering through the noise. When you get to the place of total surrender to the will of God, you will be tested in every way. Obedience to God comes with a huge price. Reading from "The Cost of Discipleship by Dietrich Bonhoeffer, he says:
"Cheap grace is the grace we bestow on ourselves...the preaching of forgiveness without requiring repentance, baptism without church discipline, communion without confession. Cheap grace is grace without discipleship.... Costly grace is the gospel which must be sought again and again, the gift which must be asked for, the door at which a man must knock.... It is costly because it costs a man his life, and it is grace because it gives a man the only true life."
Regardless of the pain, and often despair, when you are misunderstood and wrongly accused, God is there to gird you up and make you whole again. He reminded me today that "Love covers a multitude of sins," and it is the prayer of my heart that whatever comes, we can rise victoriously above the circumstances in His strength, His power, His grace, and His love. I am so grateful for His strong presence in my life today and for always.
Praise be to our glorious Savior who is and was and is for evermore!
